HOOFERS

Several of you filled out the survey showing interest in  schools, including home school students, and business competition without leaving a way for us to contact you in the comments.  For those who have not left an email or phone number and name to contact, we would like to have a way of contacting you for additional suggestions and updates.

If you have not completed the survey and would like to do so, go to our youth page.  Remember horses keep you young and our youth ages cover all horse loving ages.  Our adult riders represent a variety of businesses and colleges/universities.  Our school children represent a variety of schools including home school.

Latest Hoofer Activity

Our Sundance Hoofers  have been busy, busy, busy with and without horses from beginning of April through October with horse shows, trail rides, picnics, and just enjoying the company and benefits of the horse as well as their personal schedules of work, golf, vacations, weddings, graduations, increasing their family, and family reunions.  The fall colors are beautiful on the recent trails and our members were winners at the shows each selected to enjoy.  Congratulations for their successes goes to members: Chelsea Camper, Allison Erb, Len Rausch, Corey Tatarka, and others who experienced their first trial ride with other members of our Hoofers.  Hoofers had success in November tournament.  Hoofers please submit suggestions for balance of the year's fun.  New members are welcome.  Enroll in Thinking Horsemanship program at this farm to be eligible for FREE Membership in Sundance Hoofers.

Hoofers have been very busy since March and our schedule seems to be busy on and off the farms.  Sorry we did not realize that it has been so long since we sent something in to the site.  Several of our members have had a lot of success winning their classes in a variety of shows in a variety of divisions on our American Saddlebred Horses.  We enjoy getting together on the farms where we can forget our personal deadlines or problems and have a mental vacation while keeping physically fit.  Some of our members prefer trail riding to showing and we continue having fun riding the mountain trails when weather permits and we are not at a show or tournament.  Of course we have joy in continue improving our riding through the farms' lesson programs.  We have enjoyed helping the 4-Hers and Girl Scouts with their projects and badges when they requested.  We would like to thank those who have filled out our survey.  If you have not filled it out, please fill it out now if you are in the Roanoke Valley and surrounding areas.

On March 7, 2009 some of our members attended the Virginia Regional Winter Tournament at the Virginia Horse Center where they enjoyed seeing Corey, one of our Hoofers, win the Pleasure Pony clinching the Gold Medal for the Pleasure Pony, Walk and Trot.  The day was so beautiful and warm; it was hard to remember the snow at the first of the week.

Congratulation to our member Corey Tatarka for her first place win in the Pleasure Pony Walk and Trot at the Virginia Regional Winter Tournament.  Again Hoofers furnished concessions for the Virginia Regional Winter Tournaments January 31, 2009.

On January 3, 2009 the Hoofers furnished concessions for the Virginia Regional Winter Tournaments and some of the members saw their first Winter Tournament.  One participated in the tournament and won two reserve championships even though she has been riding saddle seat less than a year.

On Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 1:00 p.m., Sundance Hoofers had a fun meeting with refreshments and various levels of horsemanship by members.  New members were brought up to date and those who had enrolled worked with some horses.  Hope to see more of you at the next meeting.  Regular riding students should keep an eye on the bulletin boards as reminder of coming activities.  Meeting programs are horse oriented hopefully educational or horsemen improvement.
